Environmental benefits of active travel

Our story

In order to increase the amount of active travel within our school community we wanted our students to be aware of the environmental benefits of active travel. Therefore, we put together an assembly focusing on the health benefits of active travel, which was presented by our TFL Student leaders. In this assembly, students discussed the environmental benefits of active travel such as how a bus can carry as many as 70 cars worth of people and therefore produce less CO2 emissions. As a result, we have now noticed that more students are discussing their routes to school and walking in with each other. We also saw from a survey we recently carried out that the majority of our students have an understanding that they can reduce their carbon footprint by choosing alternative modes of transport to cars.
