Working in partnership with local police

Working in partnership with local police

About this activity

Suitable for the whole school community.

Your borough’s Safer Transport Team (STT) is funded by TfL to offer a visible presence and engage with the community to reduce crime and fear of crime on the transport network.

Your local STT can support school travel initiatives that relate to fear of crime, antisocial behaviour and Year 6’s transition to secondary school.

Your local police service has a range of other teams dedicated to various aspects of community safety and will often have officers dedicated to liaising with schools. You can work in partnership with your local police team in a number of ways including offering staff for events, activities and delivering assemblies.

Contact your borough officer or nearest STT for more information.

How to evidence your activity

  • Involve your borough officer: Share your ideas, agree your targets and discuss any challenges you face
  • Record the feedback from your pupils and staff
  • Sign in to TfL Travel for Life to add your story. Explain your activity, include copies of any communications with your STT, photos of events and activities and feedback from pupils
