Car Free Day

About this activity
Suitable for all schools. Supports the Geography and PSHCE National Curriculum.
Estimated Completion Time:
STARS is supporting the World Car Free Day on Thursday 22nd September 2022. By taking part, your school will be part of a global movement to encourage active and safe travel on the journey to school. You’ll be joining children across London in celebrating the benefits of active, sustainable and independent travel.
On the day you could run an assembly and hold a whole host of travel activities to encourage parents to leave the car at home, it is entirely up to your school! See the resources section for ideas.
Encourage those who need to drive to Park and Stride – where parents park their cars a distance from school and walk the last part of their journey. This could be launched at the same time as your STARS Car-free day.
How it works
To participate, you will plan for the day, and take part in the World Car Free day on Thursday 22nd September. All the activities you run will count towards your STARS accreditation.
This activity supports the Vision Zero target to eliminate death and serious injuries on London’s streets.
