Air Quality Day

Air Quality Day

About this activity

Suitable for all schools and nurseries. Supports the Geography National Curriculum.

NB: We’re bringing together all the TfL education programmes, including STARS, under one exciting new umbrella programme called TfL Travel for Life. They will be the same great programmes but with a new name and a new look, easier online process and dedicated support team. STARS for primary schools will be renamed TfL Explorers. STARS for secondary schools will be renamed TfL Pioneers.

Run an Air Quality Day at your school to raise awareness of ways we can all help clean up London’s air through our travel choices.

It could be a good time to launch an Air Quality competition, or celebrate the progress your school has made in improving air quality.

Here are some ideas for getting pupils and parents involved:

Activity steps

1
Get planning
Set up a team or work with your school travel working group or eco council to choose when you will celebrate Air Quality day
2
Be resourceful
With your school travel working group and your Explorers/Discovers Ambassadors decide how you’d like to mark the day. Speak to your borough officer about what you’re planning!
3
Shout about it
Promote the activities you’re planning and their environmental benefits to the wider school community with posters and an article in the newsletter or on the website
4
Air Quality Day!
Use Air Quality Day to raise awareness among your school community and beyond. Have fun and don’t forget to take photos!
5
Tell your story
Sign in to TfL Travel for Life account to add your story and include pupils’ feedback. Explain the activity and add photos and any posters or promotional materials. Feedback to your borough officer
