Plogging!

Hope Community School
London Borough of Bexley

Our story

The TFL ambassdors, Eco Group  and sports captains came togteher to think about other ways children could be active on the way to and from schooland to think about how to increase the childrens daily 60 minutes of activity. they decided that plogging (litter picking while walking or jogging) would be a fun way to help the planet, travel to school AND get fit!

First the children spoke to the whole school in assembly about this and then the principal, Mrs Donnelly took the children out to practice and get their first 'plog' in. This is being followed up with a whole school - plog to school day on world environment day in the summer term! As part of this we discussed how to stay safe on the orads while plogging - this included using gloves, having high vis vests, crossing roads carefully, being attentive to our surroudings and not picking up rubbish in the road or too close to the kerb.
