Teachers from years 5 & 6 spoke to their classes to discuss how they travel school and how to be safe when travelling.

A small number of children confirmed that they cycled to and from school in year 6 and that they wear a cycle helmet and their lights are in good working order, two children also confimed they had particpated in cycly training. The cyclists said they felt a lot safer cycling to school as the surrounding roads had been closed to traffic.

A larger number of children said they now walked to school either with a parent or met a friend on the way to school, they said they felt much safer using the side roads as most had been closed to traffic. Where they used a main road, they were confident in their road safety knowledge.
