Air Quality Group

Dulwich Village Church of England Infants' School
London Borough of Southwark

Our story

Air quality at the 2 school buildings is poor. Both sites have play spaces for children to use daily but there is concern about air quality due to the high traffic load that passes through Dulwich Village. A Governor of the school and an ex parent of the school suggested a group was formed to look at tackling this issue. The school advertised the group in the newsletter and several parents came forward from the infants’ school. The group have met on 3 occasions and an air monitor has been installed on one of the school sites (August 18). This measures the air quality over time. A member of the PTFA has already been awarded a Cleaner Greener Safer community fund to establish green screens and planting with the hope that this will reduce the air pollution levels in these spaces. The group also have set up banners at the crossroads encouraging drivers to turn off their engines when waiting at the lights.
