Road safety talks
Our story
For each trip we have planned this year, teachers have been through road safety rules before taking the students on the trip. It has been very important for staff to be sure that students know the simple rules when, for example, they cross the road.
Every teacher prepares a risk assessment pointing to all the hazards students and staff can find in the streets. This also makes everyone aware of the risk when walking around the community.
The Mile Club groups are a good example of learning and applying road safety skills in lessons. Students learn about road safety before they go on a trip and they practise what they have learned with the support of the staff.
When students use another way of transport ( School bus, public bus, etc.) to go to an event. Before, they also go through road safety talks about what to do when travelling (E.g. fasten the seatbelt, etc.).
