As Year 6 potentially become independent travellers in their transition this summer to secondary school, the Year 6 Class Teacher used the end of SATs test week for some journey planning activities. TfL publish useful guidance online for lesson planning "Making a Move".  The Year 6 pupils planned routes to their secondary school, considering mode of transport, journey details and practicalities such as  use of an 11-15 Oyster photocard, mobile phone & house keys. Working in pairs, they decided the safest and quickest routes, considered roads prone to congestion & pointed out crossing points at busy roads. At the end of the planning, they presented their "Route to School" to the class who followed the route on a map to test if they ended up at the right school. Information sheets on applying for Zip Oyster Photocards were printed for all pupils in Years 4-6 to promote independent travel.
