Early Intervention Group Get Walking
Greenfields Nursery School and Children's Centre
London Borough of Ealing
Our story
The children in our Early Intervention Group have social communication delays or have been diagnosed with autism. This means that they often find change and new experiences quite challenging. Some parents told us that they do not take their children out very much as they will not walk and can become distressed so the staff in the Early Intervention Group started taking the children out once a week to develop the skills of walking and helping them to adapt and feel comfortable outside with people around them. Once the children were comfortable with their weekly walks the parents were invited to join so that tehy could learn how to support their child outdoors.
