Pupil journey planning and safety
Our story
S - we were beginning to go on school trips so wanted pupils to understand how to safely plan routes especually as the roads seem busier now
T - to involve the older pupils in planning the school trips
A - all pupils to be involved in deciding and planning and risk assessing school trips, especially walking ones. The trip to Kew involved public transport but no others this year. Teachers used google maps and other mapping programmes when planning, and also wanted to ensure road safety messages were also reinforced ie crossing at the safer places eg zebra or lights - so used streetview when needed
R - all pupils have an understanding of what makes routes safe and can identify safe places to cross. Teachers reminded the children of the route before leaving and at each safe place to cross
