We have a School Street and encourage children and parents to choose more active travel methods for the journey to and from school.  This is why we accepted the Scooter Training offer.  STC nominated a colleague to undertake the training.  A letter was sent to parents to inform them.  A risk assessment was carried out, the school playground was booked for the day.  All children in Reception completed the course on the day, 2 other teachers observed a session.  All children benefited from the course and learnt how to keep their balance on a scooter and how to move safely on it.  There was a visible increase in number of Reception children who brought their scooter to school, one teacher purchased a scooter and began to scoot to school.  We will have  a 'Scoot to School' day in June.
