We wanted children and staff to understand active travel is encouraged both by students and staff. I led a staff meeting about this and a few assemblies where we showed photos of our staff who cycle. We included in pictures of staff members and information about their experiences with travelling actively. This was a successful initiate as with the help of the 3 staff members sharing why they cycle, it set a good example to children and staff. Children were engaged and asked why it was important for them to wear helmets. 2 staff members who live near each other now car share instead of both driving to school as a result of the staff meeting and assemblies.
