Mapping exercises
Our story
This activity was to help pupils become independent travellers and learning how they can plan their journeys to school. Due to majority of children living very close to the school KS2 children outlined the safest route from the station to the school. As the area has been getting work done for a while there are now temporary traffic lights on one side of the road, pupils outlined it would be better to cross from the station. Children also highlighted if pupils were to take local trains and buses how to be safe on these modes of transport. In the survey to KS2 parents, they expressed they drove their child to school as they were unaware of suitable walking routes. The results of this meant that children who are able to walk to school independently in Year 5 are aware of the how to be safe and the safest walking routes.
