Road and cycle safety assemblies and lessons
Our story
Due to some parents reporting that some of the children were not cycling safely to school Ms Lockwood held two assemblies on 24th September. One for KS1 and one for KS2. She showed them a safety video on cycling and asked the children questions about it. She also gave them statistics about injuries and deaths sustained on the roads by cyclists. Finally she told them about the cycling promise that they would have to sign if they wanted to cycle or scoot to school and the rules that they would have to follow. After this and every night before the children went home each of the teachers played the safety video for the children in an attempt to embed the safety rules in them before they began to ride their bikes again.Since this time no parent has reported children riding dangerously to school so we consider it to be very successful.
