As a school we wanted to promote walk to school week to encourage students to travel actively to school and promote the benefits of this. For walk to school week, students were involved in the walk to school week challenge and pledged to travel actively to, or within school to make this inclusive for all pupils, during this week. Students increased the amount of walking in their journey, for example walk instead of bus (if they lived close instead of using the bus) or asked their parents if they could be dropped/parked further away from school. Staff feedback after half term this was positive, students actively encouraged other students to walk more during this week and students voiced how they had continued to walk by themselves during half term.
