In March, Year 6 children enjoyed a visit from Air Quality Project Performance in Education who introduced them to Miles the Mole and the problems that air pollution causes and some simple sollutions. They were given some leaflets and air freshners with the 'Switch on to clean air' message on. As part of Environmental Week in May, the whole school watched the Havering Air Quality Video starring Miles the Mole who is explaining the problems with the air where the children live and what they can do about it. In follow up assemblies KS1 and 2 were shown PowerPoints looking at air pollution and what the children could do to help with the problem. Lots of the children were interested in this subject especially as many suffer from asthma. A banner featuring Miles the Mole with a message to parents promoting cleaner air around schools.
