Road safety talks for Nursery, Reception Y1

Barnes Primary School
London Borough of Richmond upon Thames

Our story

We invited local police to visit our nursery to talk about road safety on the 11 Feb 2022. The children absolutely loved meeting their friendly local heros and really enjoyed learning about how to keep safe when the actively travel to and from school. It was a very sucessful 20 minute presentation and we communicated the safety message to parents via twitter and our weekly newsletter.

We had a second visit on 17/2/2022.  Officers came to talk to our children in Reception (age 4/5) and Year 1 children (age 5/6). PC Phil discussed how we can stay safe near roads. It was a great learning opportunity for our EYFS and KS1 children who are just starting to build their confidence and awareness of safely making the journey to and from school. We shared the story via twitter and also relayed the information to parents in our weekly newsetter.
