Our story

In Reception, we spent the week comparing old and new transport and different ways we can get about. The children were able to learn all about the vehicles from the past and how it has changed. We spoke about What Was Different in the Past? Have cars/aeroplanes/buses/trains always existed? How would people travel to different countries in the past? As a result, the children are aware of how transport has changed and how lucky we are to have so many different modes of transport that we can use. This then promoted us to discuss how we can travel to school, what mode of transport is best for us if we live close to the school? Which led onto a discussion about how we can travel more sustainably and what our favourte mode of transport is, most of the children choos walking, scooting and cycling. We therefore spoke about how we try to use these methods instead of using the car to travel to school.
