YTA Road Safety Obstacle Course
Our story
During the YTA Pedestrian Road safety assembly on 31st January 2020 to 600 key stage 3 students. We asked for 2 pepole to take part in our road safety obstacle course. One member of staff (Miss Edmeades, Head of year 8) and a year 9 student (Frank Lewis). They had to text a mesage to a friend on there phone whilst walking through and over a obstacle construction in the main sports hall. First of all we asked both participants to walk the obstacle course with out a phone, tning them. Then with a phone. The time differances between both exercisers was over 30 seconds. The idea of holding this type of activity in front of these year groups was to show how distracted using your phone can be whiolst walking and more importanyly crossing Upminsters busy roads.
