YTA Road Safety Obstacle Course
Our story
During the YTA's Lower school assembly on 31st January 2020 a texting obstacle challenge was organised between a member of staff & a student. The obstacle course was at first walked through by the competitors with their times recorded. There second run they had to text a message on a mobile phone whilst walking through the obstacle course. Every time they hit a part of the course with the leg or arm added 5 seconds to their time, but they could earn time by throwing balls in a bucket at the end of the course. There times were added together and a winner announced. The member of staff won this competition. The competition, even though is was just for fun, did have a serious undertone to it, we informed the students that they should not be using their phones whilst crossing Upminster busy roads, leave it in your pocket.
