On Sunday 20th June, after sixth months of training, Mr Friel, Head of Year 8 lined up alongside 1500 other mad people in the early hours of the morning at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, to compete in the Outlaw Half Middle Distance Triathlon. This is an event where you swim 1.2 miles, cycle 56 miles and run 13.1 miles.

He had in mind a target of sub six hours, as this is what all of my training had suggested that I was capable of and he managed to achieve it, finishing in a time of 5:41:16.

He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will be lining up at one of these events again, once his legs have recovered!

He decided to do this event for the Teenage Cancer Trust as we have not been able to raise the same level of much needed funds these past two years through our charity ‘Hit the Road’ walks.
