This term in geography, year 4 is exploring our local area and how it has changed over time. This week we looked at how city and council planners use aerial and ground level images to help make decisions about how to improve our facilities. Using google maps, students explored human and physical features of their borough Waltham Forest. We then braved the cold to take our own ground level images. Next week, students will explore how their local area has changed over time by comparing historical maps, demographic statistics and consider why these changes have occurred i.e. change of land use, immigration and gentrification.
