To introduce our new unit of learning where Year 1 will explore the history of shopping in the past and present, we walked to the local shops, Petersfield Avenue, to learn about different shop types. Prior to the trip, each class discussed road safety and how we can be aware of our surroundings when out walking to keep ourselves safe. On the way, children discussed local landmarks, map use, bus routes, and the benefits of walking.
