Drapers' Maylands were very excited to take part in The Big Walk and Wheel, an initiative to build physical activity into children's daily routines by promoting journeys to school taken by foot, scooter or bicycle. This linked alongside our Science Week learning and discussions, promoting the environmental benefits of active travel. A whole school travel tracker was created and updated daily to log journeys, seeing a total of 1,540 over the two weeks and placing 6th among schools in Havering. The children enjoyed the challenge of beating previous scores and were eager to think about ways to build more active travel into their routines.
