School Twitter
Our story
Research showed that one of the factors preventing children cycling to school was the restricted access and lack of bike storage on our school site. As Travel Plan lead, I identified that there wasn't a need for more space but a more effective use of the current space. Over half of the storage was being taken up by the school bikes which were not being used. Alongside the JTAs, I launched the Borrow a Bike scheme. In addition to this, I rearranged the bike storage so that one whole storage unit is now available to use for children. I also improved the access to the storage. To address this concern raised by parents, the headteacher and I decided to send a tweet with a photo attached of the increased storage and to suggest cycling to school over the coming half term. This was well recieved and comments from parents and other teachers in the community praised the idea.
