Our story

After launching our questionnaire to better understand why there has been an increase in car usage at our school, today we met to discuss the research findings and possible solutions. The JTAs began by drawing out the key information from the research, which showed that over 50% of respondents cycle to school. It also highlighted that the two key reasons for the chosen means of travel with convenience followed by time. We then explored the requests for how to help parents/carers and children make a change to a more sustainable way of travel. The children discussed talking to our site manager to ensure that all gate entrances are open to breakfast club as some children were being driven as the closest gate to their house was closed. They also discussed adding an additional incentive for the walk to school chart, particularly for the UKS2 children. We also discussed planning an activity to promote and offer reflective items.
