Earlier this year our GCSE computer science students went on a visit to the University of West London. In order to help our students familiarise themselves with the local area, and show them that walking is a positive choice, we decided to walk from our school in Ealing to the venue. This was a 30-minute walk, and alternative option would have been a 20-minute bus journey. Students were supported on the walk to the venue, with 3 staff members: 1 at the front, 1 at the rear and 1 in the middle of the group to ensure road safety. As a result, we hope that students were shown that active travel such as walking can be enjoyed and that they will chose to travel this way in the future.
