Most Eco Active form competition
Our story
To raise awareness of how we can reduce our carbon footprint, we wanted to encourage students to actively travel to school. As students are not allowed smartphones, we could not hold a step counting competition and instead held the “Most Eco Active Form” competition as advised by the STARS Challenge programme. Our TFL Ambassadors surveyed students as they entered the school site and students earnt points for their form depending on how they travelled. Those who walked or cycled to school received the most points, whereas arrived by car received no points. We advertised this to students in advanced and found that many students had agreed to walk together or drop a strop on this day in order to win points for their form. Overall, we found that there were less cars than usual outside of the school gate meaning that we had been successful in getting more students to either walk, travel by public transport or park and stride on this day.
