So that our whole school community is involved towards increasing active travel, we wanted to survey how our staff body commute to work and how they would like us to travel. Therefore, we sent out a staff survey so that we had some concrete data. We had a 97 % response rate from staff. The results have helped us to better understand our staffs travel habits. There is a relatively even split amongst the three categories, however the majority (just over a third) of staff do commute to the school site by car. This has helped us to understand this figure as an area for improvement, as almost half of respondents have expressed that they would prefer to travel to work by active travel. To help increase this figure we intend to start by promoting the idea of car sharing and run a staff pedometer challenge later in the year.
