European Mobility Week
About this activity

NB: We're bringing together all the TfL education programs, including STARS, under one exciting new umbrella program called TfL Travel for Life. They will be the same great programs but with a new name and a new look, an easier online process, and a dedicated support team. STARS for primary schools will be renamed TfL Explorers, and STARS for secondary schools will be renamed TfL Pioneers.

European Mobility Week takes place in September each year. It aims to shine a spotlight on sustainable transport issues in cities and towns and to work to improve people’s health and quality of life. The campaign encourages local authorities and organizations to get together to find innovative solutions to reduce car use and emissions and test new technologies or planning measures.

As the week takes place at the beginning of the school year, it’s a good occasion to introduce new sustainable travel schemes to get your school community into good habits for the year ahead. This could include the introduction of a walking bus, bikers' breakfasts, park and stride, or car-sharing scheme.

Alternatively, you could ask your pupils to take part in a sustainable transport-themed poster or essay competition explaining what they would do to improve travel in your local area.

Work with your school travel working group and TfL Explorers Ambassadors to plan activities to mark the day.

Visit the campaign's website to find out more and to register your school's activity.

How to evidence your activity:

Add your story to the TfL Travel for Life website. Explain the activity, add photos, and include your pupils' and colleagues' feedback. Also, include any letters and promotional materials you produced.
