Public transport promotion
About this activity
Suitable for primary and secondary school pupils. Supports the PSHE and Citizenship National Curriculum.
NB: We’re bringing together all the TfL education programmes, including STARS, under one exciting new umbrella programme called TfL Travel for Life. They will be the same great programmes, but with a new name and a new look, easier online process and dedicated support team. STARS for primary schools will be renamed TfL Explorers. STARS for secondary schools will be renamed TfL Pioneers.
Promote the use and benefits of public transport in your school to encourage positive travel behaviours and support pupils and staff to travel sustainably.
There are lots of ways you can do this, here are some ideas:
- Include local bus or train routes or links to journey planning sites on your school’s website
- Display local bus information on your school travel noticeboard
- List public transport information in new pupil joining packs and communications to parents at the start of the school year
- Share the environmental and health benefits of public transport use, including Air Quality benefits
What you’ll need
- Up-to-date bus information
- A travel notice board in a prominent location in your school
