We held a transition workshop for parents of children that are going to school in September.  One of the activities that we asked parents to do between now and starting school is to walk past their new school as often as possible with their child so that they become familiar with the building and the new route, this will also ensure that on the first day they have enough time to get to school without rushing and they will have trialled the walk at their child's pace.  We also asked them to enusre that they walk rather than drive or allow their child to use a bike or scooter to encourage active travel.
