We wanted to include senior management in encouraging active travel. KS1 had an ‘Active Travel Art Competition’ This activity  was specifically planned as the ARP children were promoting a whole school assembly about their active travel journeys and what they’ve enjoyed about this. The head teacher then awarded the winners their certificates for the pieces. He invited the children to talk about their posters. The headteacher then shared some experiences of when he’s seen children actively travelling sensibly to school. The celebration of children engagement in active travel by the headteacher encourages other children to continue using active travel each day.
