The children at BP had been observed to be cycling to school in an unsafe way and we wanted to do something about this. We deccided that we had to to educate pupils and parents alike to make them see the importance of cycling safely on the roads. Aside from doing a road safety assembly and showing two road safety videos in classrooms, we put an article in the newsletter informing the parents of the expectations of the children when on the roads and the parents' role in helping to uphold the safety standards. Cycling standards have now improved enormously and we have since not had any concerns raised by anyone.
