In Year 1, children have been learning about tally charts, how to record information and how to explain them. In groups, we visited the end of the playground where we could observe the transport passing by, to keep a travel tally. Children recorded the number of buses, cars, motorbikes, vans, etc. Afterwards, as a class, we had a discussion about the impact of this number of vehicles on the road and what we could do to reduce the amount of transport on the roads.
