Public transport for school trips - tube
Our story
Our Y9s recently had a school trip to watch a French play. To get to the venue we decided to take public transport over taking our school minibus. This was not only to help our students feel more confident with using public transport themselves, but to also promote our school’s message of traveling actively where possible. To keep safe we divided the 45 students into three equal groups each with a teacher responsible for them. Each student then also had a ‘buddy’ and they walking 2 by 2 where the pavement was wide enough. Students were instructed to keep their height plus one step back from the curb at all times. As a result of this or students commented that getting the tube wasn’t as daunting as they initially thought and they would be happy to travel this way again in the future.
