Cycle skills for Adults
About this activity
Suitable for staff and parents/carers.
NB: We’re bringing together all the TfL education programmes, including STARS, under one exciting new umbrella programme called TfL Travel for Life. They will be the same great programmes, but with a new name and a new look, easier online process and dedicated support team. STARS for primary schools will be renamed TfL Explorers. STARS for secondary schools will be renamed TfL Pioneers.
Cycle Skills for Adults give staff and parents/carers an opportunity to build their confidence on the road. This in turn allows them to become positive cycling role models for pupils.
How it works
Contact your borough officer to organise a Cycle Skills session for a group of adults at your school. The sessions are tailored to participants’ skills, time and location and last one to two hours depending on your borough.
Bicycles are available to borrow for those who do not have their own.
This activity can work well when promoted at the same time as Bikeability training for your pupils.
What you’ll need
- A group of keen participants. They can be new to cycling or regulars - there’s always something to learn
- An outdoor space in which to hold the training
- A cycling instructor
- Bicycles if participants have them. If not, ask your trainer to bring some along
Please note: Cycle Skills sessions are free to anyone who lives, works or studies in London. This activity card shows how the training can be used in a school setting, but adults can organise a session independently, too.
