Cycle Reward Card scheme
About this activity
Suitable for primary and secondary pupils.
NB: We’re bringing together all the TfL education programmes, including STARS, under one exciting new umbrella programme called TfL Travel for Life. They will be the same great programmes, but with a new name and a new look, easier online process and dedicated support team. STARS for primary schools will be renamed TfL Explorers. STARS for secondary schools will be renamed TfL Pioneers.
Introduce a Cycle Reward Card scheme to encourage pupils to ride their bikes to school. Give each pupil their own card and stamp or sign their card each time they cycle to school. Once a pupil has filled their card with stamps or signatures reward them with a prize, present pupils with a certificate or mention them in school newsletters or assemblies.
Keep a bike count sheet to track the number of people cycling to school while the scheme is running.
This activity works well with a Bikers' breakfast or as a follow up to Bikeability training.
You can also adapt this reward scheme for Park and Stride and other walking activities such as Walk Once a Week.
